Welcome to our monthly newsletter! 👋 Sign up now to get timely updates on new releases, community events, tutorials, workshops, webinars, cool hacks, and much more!

Technology

Let’s have a look at what the end of the first quarter of the year has brought us! By now, you’ve probably already heard that last month our Engineering Team produced several exciting new features for our enterprise customers, so everyone with an OpenNebula Subscription can now start enjoying the latest EE maintenance release, OpenNebula 6.6.1! 🚀

Also, we are nearly done preparing a screencast showcasing the recent integration of Prometheus with OpenNebula. This screencast will provide a step-by-step guide on how to configure OpenNebula to work seamlessly with the Prometheus monitoring and alerting toolkit, so keep an eye out for its release in a few days’ time!

📡 MESSAGE FROM THE ENGINEERING DECK
We are working hard on the new FireEdge GUI to make it an increasingly complete replacement for the ‘old’ Sunstone GUI. The latest addition, likely to appear in the upcoming EE maintenance release 6.6.2, will be a revisited Datastore tab. In the meantime, please keep sending us your feedback about OpenNebula’s new GUI!

Community

🤝 We are excited to announce that we have officially joined the Linux Foundation Europe! Since the launch of Project Sylva in September 2022, we have been working closely with a number of European Telecom/5G operators to make sure OpenNebula is able to respond to its evolving needs as many of them are now defining new business models for the Telco Edge.

📢 Also, as mentioned in last month’s newsletter, we are now preparing the 10th edition of the OpenNebula Conference, which will take place in a virtual format on May 23-25. The call for presentations ended on March 31, but if you have something valuable to showcase to the community, please don’t hesitate to send it to us. We would love to hear from you!

OpenNebula Webinar - Presenting the new OpenNebula Kubernetes Engine Cover

Outreach

🛰️ We are thrilled to announce the resumption of our webinar series after a long break! Last week our friends from SUSE joined us in a webinar where we explored the amazing features of our new OpenNebula Kubernetes Engine (OneKE), including RKE2 and Longhorn —two of the open source technologies that we’ve used to build our Kubernetes CNCF-certified distribution. Check out the recording and find out how to deploy a Kubernetes cluster on a hybrid OpenNebula environment using the official OneKE virtual appliance available on our public marketplace!

And don’t forget that the OpenNebula team is growing! Visit our Careers page for more details about our all-remote policy and the open positions that you can apply to 😉
