We are thrilled to share the news of our recently formed partnership with Storware, a company that offers solutions characterized by unparalleled stability and impressive integration capabilities. This collaboration will broaden the options available to OpenNebula users seeking an enterprise backup solution.

With Storware’s recent integration into the OpenNebula Technology Partner Program, users who already employ on-premises file system object storage for enterprise backups now have greater flexibility in determining the destination for their OpenNebula environment backups. This design employs a proxy VM approach: after initializing a new instance, a proxy virtual machine is utilized. This machine is equipped with the ‘node component’, acting as the primary data mover. This component captures snapshots of active virtual machines or disks, attaches to these disks, and transfers the data. 

This solution complements the native backup capabilities of OpenNebula which feature full and incremental backup support for KVM, and it is integrated with two backends: Restic, the open source backup program, as well as Rsync repositories.
