Technology
July is usually a quiet month, partly because some members of the OpenNebula Team choose this time of the year to go on holidays… Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t keep working hard to improve our technology, and that’s why this month we’ve produced a new Enterprise Edition Maintenance Release: OpenNebula EE 6.0.3! 🚀
As many of you already know, one of the main novelties that we included in version 6.0 is the powerful support for multi-cloud architectures. We have been creating new public resources about these features, including a new landing page on Multi-Cloud, a white paper on the topic, and a recent screencast on how to use OpenNebula to prevent cloud vendor lock-in 😉
Community
Back in June we updated our Public Marketplace with several new virtual appliances for those of you looking for an alternative to CentOS, including AlmaLinux 8 and Rocky Linux 8. In July we’ve also updated our virtual appliance for openSUSE, which now supports version 15.3 and can be used to evaluate the latest SUSE Enterprise Linux Server (SLES) version 🦎
And if you want to find out more about how we are integrating OpenNebula with other amazing technologies, don’t forget to have a look at our recent partnership agreement with Hivecell, the manufacturer providing edge nodes that come with simple inventory management, high redundancy, and great scalability.
Outreach
If you are interested in setting up your multi-cloud with OpenNebula, you’ll probably be interested in watching the OpenNebula webinar we organized in July, now available on-demand 📺 Kudos to Austin Black (Solutions Engineer at DigitalOcean) and Mike Azevedo (Lead Tech & Sales Engineer at Vultr) for joining us for this event as guest speakers!
And speaking of events… remember that the 9th edition of our OpenNebulaConf has been rescheduled and will finally be taking place on March 24-25, 2022, in Brussels (Belgium) 😉
PS: Take care of yourselves and of those around you. All our support to those who are fighting the pandemic on the front lines! 💪
