Exclusive Resources for OpenNebula Subscribers
In cloud environments, VMs can sometimes become unresponsive or fall outside OpenNebula’s control, affecting operations and resource efficiency. Identifying and addressing these cases is key to maintaining a stable infrastructure.
Handling Unmanaged VMs in OpenNebula
In OpenNebula, unmanaged VMs typically fall into three categories:
- Zombie VMs: launched by OpenNebula but no longer managed, often due to database inconsistencies.
- Wild VMs: running outside OpenNebula’s control but can be partially imported.
- Ghost VMs: created in OpenNebula but inaccessible, sometimes due to metadata issues.
Learn how to detect and recover these VMs in our detailed guide on managing zombie, ghost, and wild VMs.
