A Brief History about OpenNebula
A Company Founded in 2010
Headquartered in Burlington (MA, US) and Madrid (Spain), and founded in 2010, OpenNebula Systems is the company that develops the core of the OpenNebula open source cloud and edge computing platform, supports its large user community, and provides commercial support and services.
First Release of Software in 2008
First released in 2008, OpenNebula is the only open source cloud management technology developed in Europe. It combines support for virtual machines and application containers with federation, multi-tenancy, and automatic provisioning of cloud and edge infrastructure resources for building private, public, and multi-provider clouds. With more than 5,000 organizations running an OpenNebula cloud worldwide, including large federated environments managing hundreds of thousands of cores, OpenNebula Systems operates across many different sectors, either directly or in collaboration with vertical business partners and system integrators, covering industries such as media, telecommunications, gaming, finance & banking, public sector, IT hosting, and HPC.

OpenNebula Systems has more than 10 years of experience in R&D and innovation activities. OpenNebula Systems is Day-1 Member of Gaia-X, direct participant of the IPCEI on Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services, corporate member of the European Open Science Cloud Association (EOSC), the Linux Foundation, LF Edge, and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and chairs the European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud.
