OpenNebula Now Available on OVHcloud to Enable Sovereign Cloud Environments

OpenNebula Systems and OVHcloud have announced a collaboration that enables organizations to deploy fully sovereign OpenNebula-based cloud environments on OVHcloud’s certified European infrastructure. This initiative is part of the Hosted OpenNebula Cloud – Ready Certification Program, which validates OpenNebula deployments on bare-metal offerings from cloud providers to ensure they meet strict requirements for performance, reliability, interoperability, security, and operational consistency.

Through this program, OVHcloud can offer production-ready OpenNebula environments built on validated architectures, automated deployment workflows, and continuous compatibility with OpenNebula releases. Customers can therefore deploy hosted private, hybrid, and multi-cloud infrastructures with confidence, using a platform that is both enterprise-grade and fully aligned with European requirements.

End-to-End Certified European Stack

With this collaboration, OVHcloud provides on-demand OpenNebula private cloud instances that operate entirely under EU jurisdiction, giving organizations full control over their data, operations, and governance. The combined solution delivers an end-to-end European software and hardware stack, from bare-metal infrastructure to cloud management, designed to meet the needs of regulated sectors, research organizations, and enterprises.

OpenNebula instances running on OVHcloud are fully aligned with the IPCEI-CIS Reference Architecture and achieve 100% compliance with the European Commission’s Cloud Sovereignty Framework. This makes them suitable for use cases that require strong guarantees around sovereignty, transparency, and long-term independence, while supporting distributed and multi-provider architectures across Europe.

Seamless Hybrid and Distributed Cloud Expansion

The collaboration also provides a practical path to scale and extend private cloud environments beyond on-premises infrastructure. Organizations can use OVHcloud resources to grow capacity on demand, complementing existing data centres with hosted, hybrid, or edge deployments, while maintaining a single operational model.

OpenNebula supports federation between environments, allowing multiple OpenNebula clouds—on-premises or hosted on OVHcloud—to be managed as a unified system. This enables highly distributed architectures suitable for hybrid cloud, edge computing, and geographically dispersed workloads, without sacrificing control or consistency. These environments are suitable for development, testing, and production across European regions.

Together, OpenNebula and OVHcloud strengthen the European ecosystem of cloud providers, offering a sovereign, scalable alternative that aligns with Europe’s strategic objectives for cloud, edge, and AI infrastructure.
