OpenNebula Systems Joins the Open Source MANO Working Group at ETSI

We’re excited to announce that OpenNebula Systems is now officially a participant in the new Open Source MANO (OSM) working group hosted by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).

Originally released by Telefónica as the first open source orchestration and management stack for Network Function Virtualization (NFV), OSM has become the reference project for the open implementation of the ETSI NFV Information Models and APIs. Now operating as a Software Development Group (SDG), the OSM community follows a code-first methodology to bridge the gap between formal standards and a production-quality stack that meets operators’ requirements for commercial NFV deployments.

By joining the OSM SDG, OpenNebula Systems is bringing a vital strategic asset to the ETSI technological ecosystem: a solid, sovereign technology for virtualized infrastructures and NFV deployments. As strategic autonomy becomes an increasingly important consideration, OpenNebula offers telco operators a European, open source alternative for managing edge clouds and a safe migration path from legacy platforms like VMware and OpenStack.

The participation of OpenNebula Systems in this ETSI-hosted working group supports the OSM community in managing critical workloads on a telco cloud infrastructure that is efficient, high-performing, and fully aligned with the increasingly demanding requirements for digital sovereignty. Through this project, as well as through complementary initiatives such as Sylva, the company reinforces its commitment to supporting the evolving needs of the telecommunications sector.
