Welcome to our latest monthly newsletter, where we keep you updated with what we’re up to next and catch you up on events, releases and more.

Technology

With Summer break right around the corner, at OpenNebula Systems, we are continuing to prepare our platform for upcoming changes right after holidays. These developments will be discussed in detail soon.

We prioritize our users, and to support them, we’ve developed a comprehensive set of tools and a new service to facilitate smooth migrations from VMware. Our migration service is designed for both new and existing customers facing challenges due to Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware, which has caused significant market shifts. Hundreds of clients are now seeking alternatives, and OpenNebula Systems is ready to assist with this transition, regardless of your company’s size.

To request this service, simply fill out the form, and our team will promptly reach out to you.

Additionally, we continue enhancing our support to ensure a robust infrastructure experience. We have released a new Long-Term Support (LTS) version for the Enterprise Edition, providing support and security updates for over 27 months (and sometimes even longer). If you are using an LTS version, we strongly encourage you to upgrade to the latest version, 6.4.6.

πŸ“‘ MESSAGE FROM THE ENGINEERING DECK
6.10 is around the corner, and with this new release (which will be LTS), we want to make sure that the OpenNebula experience over KVM is top notch! As you can imagine, moving to the new version of the Web Interface is keeping us busy adjusting the documentation. Shortly we will be making a Call for Translations, please make sure new versions of Sunstone support your favorite language :)

Community

This month, we celebrated the 11th edition of the OpenNebula Conference. You can watch all the sessions on demand on our website or YouTube channel, where you can find a specific playlist (so you don’t miss a thing).

The conference featured over 55 speakers and 35 participating organizations, covering topics such as Cloud, AI, Automation, and more. We also discussed future plans for OpenNebula Systems, including our new partnership program. The event included 24 sessions with panels, use cases, and solution keynotes. Let us know which sessions you enjoyed the most and your key takeaways.

Outreach

In June, our team participated in various events, promoting Cloud Virtualization and open-source tools. Here’s a quick overview of where we have been:

  • StackConf: We were invited to participate in a talk about how open source will help to build a sovereign cloud in Europe.
  • OpenSouth Code: A nice community event in the sunny MΓ‘laga, where we participated in a talk about communities and their evolution.
  • CNIS: This event, held in Madrid, was focused on public administration. We had the opportunity to participate with a workshop, a talk and even a booth.

White paper

We understand that some companies are struggling to find solutions for their infrastructure, especially if they are using VMware. To help with the analysis we have created several tools and resources. Among them, we have produced a free white paper to give you a complete pricing review between VMware and OpenNebula. Download it now to learn more.
