Technology

Have you run tired of your Xmas presents already? Don’t worry! In February our Engineering team has produced a new EE maintenance release: OpenNebula 6.2.1 🎁 This new version comes with an improved OneProvision—the tool OpenNebula uses for provisioning Edge Clusters—and a new WHMCS module—a powerful integration that several corporate user, especially Cloud Service Providers, will find really handy! 🥳  Also, with the latest 6.2.1 EE we’ve inaugurated our new support for AlmaLinux, one of the most popular alternative Linux distribution to CentOS!

Community

We’ve also been quite busy with the organization of our main Community event: the OpenNebula Conference 2022, which this year will be running as a 100% virtual event. Kudos to StorPool for joining us as a sponsor! 👏

And following the Gaia-X Summit in November, last month the main European cloud providers have launched a joint initiative to start implementing together a series of Gaia-X compatible services and technologies: Structura- X 🚀 We are proud to be supporting this project from the very beginning!

In February we also sponsored the EU Open Source Policy Summit 2022, another great edition of this event organized by OpenForum Europe. It was a unique occasion to discuss the real impact of open source with policymakers, tech businesses, community members, developers, foundations, and many others involved in EU digital policy.

Outreach

February has also been full of open source events. This year we have participated, as usual, at FOSDEM—the Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting! 🤓 This edition took place on-line again due to COVID-19, but we are sure next year we’ll be able to actually make it to Brussels!

Such a busy month… and the best is yet to come!
