A few days ago we announced that the 9th edition of the OpenNebula Conference would be taking place in Brussels (Belgium) on October 1-2, 2020. But that’s not the only time we are going to be visiting the Belgian capital in 2020! 😀 Later this week we’ll be attending two major events in Brussels, the SustainOSS Summit and the Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting (FOSDEM).

Born in San Francisco in mid-2017, SustainOSS (Thursday, January 30) has become a focal point for people interested in the sustainability of the open source model and in the current state and future of highly-used and impactful projects. Alberto P. Martí, our Open Source Community Manager, will be participating at the event and contributing with OpenNebula’s experience to the discussions around hot topics such as the long-term health of open source communities, new approaches to the sustainability of FLOSS projects, and new developments in licensing.

We’ll also be present at FOSDEM (Saturday & Sunday, February 1-2), a mythical event that this year celebrates its 20th anniversary and has become a must for open source projects and enthusiasts from all over the world. OpenNebula will be taking part at the Virtualization and IaaS Devroom with a talk on Edge Clouds with OpenNebula (Sunday at 1:30pm, room H.1309). The presentation, delivered by Vlastimil Holer (Lead Cloud Engineer at OpenNebula Systems), will display practical examples of the use of OpenNebula’s capabilities for easily deploying and managing edge clouds based on private infrastructure or making use of public bare-metal providers.

If you are planning to attend these events, let us know by sending us an e-mail to community@opennebula.systems We’ll be happy to arrange a meeting or have a chat over a tea, coffee… or some other local beverage! 😉
