Europe is developing large-scale AI infrastructures, from AI Factories and Gigafactories to Neoclouds and other AI environments. But building the infrastructure needed to support this growth is about more than computing capacity. Organizations also need the flexibility to choose the technologies that best meet their requirements while maintaining control over their infrastructure and avoiding vendor lock-in.
This is why we’re pleased to announce our collaboration with Nokia to support an open European technology stack for sovereign AI. By combining OpenNebula’s vendor-neutral AI infrastructure management platform with Nokia’s data center networking portfolio, we’re bringing together complementary capabilities to help organizations deploy and operate high-performance AI environments.
As a first step, we’re working to integrate Nokia’s data center networking solutions with OpenNebula, enabling networking to become part of the broader orchestration of compute, GPU, networking, and storage resources. Beyond this initial integration, the collaboration will extend to technical validation, reference architectures, demonstrations, and joint engagement around European sovereign AI initiatives.
For organizations building sovereign AI infrastructure, openness and interoperability are critical. They need the freedom to integrate the technologies that best meet their requirements, without being locked into a single technology stack. An open approach provides greater flexibility and customer choice while preserving control over the infrastructure.
The collaboration with Nokia is a step toward a stronger European technology ecosystem based on openness, interoperability, and choice. By bringing together complementary European technologies, we aim to support trusted, secure, and high-performance AI infrastructures while preserving the flexibility and control that are fundamental to sovereign AI.
