From HPC to AI Factories: Powering Spain’s AI Infrastructure

AI is reshaping what organizations need from their infrastructure. Access to computing capacity is only the beginning: the next step is turning GPUs, cloud resources, and AI models into services that teams can deploy, manage, and use.

This October, OpenNebula Systems will join Spain’s infrastructure community at the RES Users Conference in Madrid (October 21–22) and IBERGRID 2026 in Santiago de Compostela (October 27–29). We’ll explore how organizations can build on existing HPC investments to create AI Factories that deliver GPU and LLM services across hybrid HPC-cloud environments.

Our existing collaboration with CSUC (Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya) and CESGA (Galician Supercomputing Center) connect these conversations to Spain’s evolving infrastructure ecosystem—and its growing focus on AI.

RES 2026: Building the Foundations for AI

AI workloads bring new demands to data center design and operations. Organizations need infrastructure that can accommodate GPU capacity, support different workloads, and adapt as AI adoption grows.

At the RES Users Conference, the OpenNebula Systems team will join a panel on data center deployment, exploring the infrastructure choices that lay the groundwork for AI services. The discussion will address how flexible infrastructure can help organizations evolve from providing computing resources to delivering environments ready for AI.

IBERGRID 2026: Turning HPC Capacity into AI Services

How can research centers build on their HPC infrastructure to deliver AI services? At IBERGRID 2026, OpenNebula will address this challenge through a keynote, “From HPC Centers to AI Factories: Operating the Next Generation of Scientific Infrastructure,” followed by the workshop “Building an AI Factory: Delivering GPUaaS and LLMaaS for Hybrid HPC-Cloud Environments.”

The sessions will explore both the operational evolution of scientific infrastructure and the practical delivery of GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and LLM-as-a-Service (LLMaaS) across hybrid HPC-cloud environments.
