Technology

Last month was pretty eventful! Our engineering team published OpenNebula 6.4.5 EE LTS Maintenance Release! As usual, corporate users with an active OpenNebula Subscription can access the latest version of our Enterprise Edition from their private repositories 🚀

📡 MESSAGE FROM THE ENGINEERING DECK
FireEdge Sunstone is being built at ludicrous speed! Now that the stones have been carefully placed, missing functionality is being added swiftly. This past month, we began working on the ACL, VNET templates, and OneFlow tabs. A lot is going on behind the scenes—Sunstone does much more than you might think, making things easier for end users ;)

Community

🦾 With Automation being the latest hot topic, we’ve published a detailed blog post about the integration of OpenNebula with Terraform, a popular infrastructure-as-code (IAC) software tool. It provides a detailed guide on setting up Terraform for OpenNebula, including steps like verifying Terraform installation, adding and configuring the OpenNebula provider, and running Terraform commands. Have a read and let us know what you think!

📣 Last month, our Community team participated in two events: OpenExpo Cloud Day 2023 and Google DevFest Madrid. We talked about building a Sovereign Multi-Cloud using open source technologies like, yes… OpenNebula! These events are always a great opportunity to meet people and learn about the latest trends.

💡 Also, in terms of open source innovation, November has witnessed the official launch of the EU cybersecurity project EMERALD, an initiative funded with 5,5 million EUR in which OpenNebula will be the core technology facilitating the process of assessing the overall security compliance of cloud services both on-premise and also across multiple cloud/edge infrastructure providers. Cool, init?

Outreach

🇧🇪 We’re thrilled to announce that OpenNebula will be again sponsoring FOSDEM, the largest open source community event in Europe, taking place on February 3-4, 2024 in Brussels. The Call for Papers (CFP) for all the DevRooms are still open but closing soon, so if you want to submit a paper, do it quickly!

🇪🇸 Also, we’ll be at the iconic MWC ’24 in Barcelona from February 26-29 (more details coming soon). If you’re planning to attend, you better book your accommodation sooner than later, things are getting crazy!
