Our team at OpenNebula was delighted to be part of the FOSDEM 2023 event which was held on 4-5th February 2023. We had the opportunity to meet with key open source community members and discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the world of edge & cloud computing. We also shared our vision for OpenNebula and how it can help organizations build and manage their clouds in a secure, reliable, and efficient way ✨
At FOSDEM 2023 stand, we gave demos where we showcased our open source cloud management platform designed to deliver on-demand, automated provisioning of virtualized infrastructures. We also presented several use cases of how OpenNebula has been used by different organizations in their cloud deployments (for public, private, and hybrid clouds) 🌩️
The response we received from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive and several questions were asked in order to gain further understanding of how OpenNebula works and can be used in production. We enjoyed seeing the increased interest in OpenNebula as many attendees expressed enthusiasm at the possibilities of leveraging it for their own cloud deployments 💻
This year we achieved a milestone as our three talks were accepted. In the first talk, Marco spoke about utilizing OpenNebula for Deploying Kubernetes across Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Environments. Alberto presented The Role of Open Source at the EU Technology Roadmap for a European Sovereign Cloud in the second devroom. Lastly, in the third DevRoom, Gaël Blondelle from Eclipse Foundation and Alberto P. Martí joined hands to deliberate on – Is “European open source” a thing? where they debated the role of open source in building Europe’s digital sovereignty 🤝
We want to thank FOSDEM and all the attendees for this great opportunity to share our vision for OpenNebula with such an engaged audience. We are very thankful for the opportunity to attend FOSDEM 2023 and look forward to attending again in the future! 🙌
