On October 21, alongside AWS, Microsoft and ARM, our colleagues from Rancher Labs hosted the Computing at the Edge with Kubernetes conference. This virtual event, with more than 2,500 registrants and over 1,000 attendees, featured 24 presentations from preeminent K8s experts and practitioners and was designed to share best practices and insight on how to get started and how to get the most from Kubernetes edge deployments.

Again, this was a great opportunity for OpenNebula to share some of the developments happening around ONEedge, our new open source edge computing platform. In our presentation, based on the recent integration with the Docker Hub marketplace and Firecracker—the new virtualization technology developed by Amazon Web Services (AWS)—we showed how to easily deploy multiple K3s clusters at the edge for multiplayer gaming.

We used Agones (a platform developed by Google and Ubisoft) to deploy at the edge a dedicated game server for Xonotic, the well-known open source FPS multiplayer game, and all that in just a few minutes! 🎮

Take a look at the presentation on your own time, and don’t forget that our White Paper on Edge Computing is already available for download! 🚀
