Welcome to our latest monthly newsletter, where we keep you updated with what we’re up to next and catch you up on events, releases and more.

There are some interesting updates to share this month. First, our team has deployed a new version of the OneKE appliance, based on RKE2, that not only brings security and performance improvements, but also comes with extended documentation for Longhorn, a new Traefik, and a better Kubeconfig file. This appliance has been certified by the CNCF, as usual, confirming our efforts around stability and quality. We are working on offering a new migration service, which is part of the project to help ensure a smooth migration from VMware. Last month we announced the OneSwap tool, and we have crafted an article to show how it operates. In addition, we will host a webinar on June 5, where you will be able to see the tool in action. You can find more details below.

📡 MESSAGE FROM THE ENGINEERING DECK
The development team is gearing towards a code freeze for 6.10. Hold on to your hats! 6.10 is posed to be a new LTS release that will mark the transition to the new Sunstone incarnation, served by FireEdge. We will be also focusing mainly on the KVM hypervisor to offer a premium experience, polishing some rough edges on the interface and documentation.

We would like to remind you again about our upcoming virtual conference: the 11th edition of the OpenNebulaCon will be held at the end of June. We will be announcing speakers and part of the agenda this week. Registration is for free, and you will be able to watch it at any time, anywhere.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to postpone the webinar scheduled for May 22. But, fear not, we will be rescheduling the session to June 5. Join us to catch a live demo and learn how simple it is to migrate from VMware to OpenNebula.

You still have time to register if you haven’t done so already:

Here´s a quick overview of the events we’ve participated in May:

  • DevopsPro Europe, where we participated with a presentation on “AI-Driven Observability and Operations in Cloud-Edge Systems“. The talk was online and we expect to share the recording soon.
  • DCD Madrid, as part of a really interesting roundtable about the current level of deployment of edge datacenters and how open source solutions like OpenNebula can help to speed up that process.

Special thanks to Iguane Solutions for inviting us to their event in Paris about alternatives to VMware, where we showcased how easy it is to migrate to OpenNebula.

If you still need more information about how to migrate from VMware, download our free white paper on migrating from VMware to OpenNebula. It provides a step-by-step guide with the resources for a successful migration.
